Apart from the folkloric performances that tell of Ibiza's traditions through dancing and ancestral music, several interesting and entertaining events are organised in Ibiza. Every year, the Jazz Festival brings together international groups that fill three days with the best jazz, in one of the bastions of the citadel high in the old town. In summer, performances by Indie bands fill indoor and outdoor venues alike.
In 2010 the city will host the forth edition of the Ibiza Film Festival, in witch different films compete for the Falcó d’Or. Every September the coveted Ibiza DJ Awards are presented. One of the essential aspects of Ibiza's clubbing scene is, of course, the Closing Parties. The music of Café del Mar is world famous and the drums of Cala Benirras Sundays at sunset, a redoubt of the hippie culture, will soon no longer be just for the initiated. Hundreds of artists, authors and musicians call the island home, bringing life to the local cultural scene and giving Ibiza its special charm.
