A summer night at Can Martí

Now we slowly begin to realise where we are. I’ve been to Ibiza before, and also know about the special, more tranquil vibe of the northern part of the island. But when you sit in your own secluded garden terrace on a summer morning amidst the big calm of a beautiful authentic farm with your first coffee, awaiting breakfast and all is still just sound tracked by birdsong & a mild breeze in the trees, you truly remember what life is all about. This is addressing all your senses before you even know… and yes, maybe “sensual” is a good word to describe the overall feel of Can Marti this morning. We are in the right place at the right time.
My girlfriend decided on an early AM yoga session somewhere near the natural pool area, while I am being served breakfast for two on our terrace. And again: it’s one thing to have standard hotel buffet breakfast – and totally another having homemade organic farm breakfast with personal and attentive service. This doesn’t just feel like paradise, it also looks & smells like it.

ORGANIC FARM BREAKFAST AT CAN MARTÍ

And so, on our first paradise morning, we opt for privacy although the breakfast area of Can Marti turns out to be very pretty as well later on. Maybe tomorrow.
Now it’s time to indulge and enjoy: finally breakfast time in peaceful farmland paradise. Freshly squeezed juices, yummy homemade granola, jams, scrambled eggs made of chickpeas, organic yoghurt, freshly baked bread and eggs from happy free roaming chicken (that we hear from far now, mixing in with the birdsong and the light breeze)? It’s all there and we take our time to tuck in & try out.
After a short digestion walk over the lovely farm premises  (and a little herb garden tour as we wanted to know more about those heavenly scents on our way to reception) we pit stop at the cute farm shop to get us more of those homemade tortillas and some kombucha for a late lunch on one of the nearby beaches. In fact it’s not even a 10 min. drive to our favourite (Cala Xuclar, perfect for snorkelling) but this time we go for our own beach picnic rather than lunching at the beach restaurant.
Upon returning from the beach after a lot of sunlight exposure we treat ourselves to a very nice deep tissue massage – hey, first day in paradise after all – and go for the outdoor option in the afternoon shade of Can Marti’s lush fruit yards.

EL CHIRINGUITO

Totally relaxed and energised that way, we make our way to the secluded natural pool area for a swim and to enjoy the upcoming sunset from our comfy sunbeds right next to the littleChiringuito. Of course we want some olives from the farm with our first holiday cocktail -oh and there’s crackers and hummus as well? Bring it on then.
On our way back to our suite in the evening twilight, we notice the sound of crickets and frogs is increasing softly. The sound of summer indeed! Oh and was that a donkey just now? We are told there are 5 of them living here as full time good energy lawn mowers. And tomorrow we want to take a closer look at them for sure!
After a quick shower and a bit of rest we are happy to attend a special Can Marti candle light dinner in their beautiful outdoor area right near the farm’s kitchen. It still feels very private to be seated here, a great spot to await the regular magic of an Ibiza summer night under the stars for real.
We choose the Shakshuka eggs and a vegan curry with our organic bottle of wine – which turns out to be another effortlessly good choice in just the right surroundings.
Two hours later we find ourselves still sitting there enjoying the vibes and another drink while forgetting about time.
Tonight the moon shines bright and so do the stars – that’s why we decide to retreat to our little garden terrace to watch the night sky instead of venturing out into Ibiza’s famous nightlife. And that’s just because during dinner one of the friendly staff told us the secret of the special location Can Marti finds itself in: due to the surrounding hills of the valley, the bit of artificial light coming from the village and Ibiza town is actually blocked off at night – and that’s why you can see way more stars in the night sky than in most other places on the island here. You know what? Turns out to be true!
And so our first day in paradise ends just as paradisiac as it started. Only now we know feeling like having a perfect day in paradise at Can Marti is not an exception at all – it’s much more likely that it’s a daily standard up here in the north of Ibiza.
No doubt: we found our very own, private slice of heaven on a unique island farm tucked far away from any trouble, stress or worries. And that’s why we are certified fans of Can Marti and proud to say so. We are looking forward to waking up here tomorrow!
